According to the Economic Society, social welfare in Nigeria is in a disgraceful state.
Nigeria’s social welfare condition is discouraging, according to the Nigerian Economic Society (NES), which revealed on Tuesday that 133 million people presently experience deprivations in their living conditions, health, and education.
NES President Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, speaking in Abuja ahead of the society’s 66th Annual Conference next week, pointed out that socio-economic development is multi-sectoral and cumulative, as evidenced by the sheer number of Nigerians living in multidimensional poverty, which goes beyond macroeconomic indices.
